There was plenty of bragging sized fish reported from around Northern California and we expect more in the near future. Big bass will start showing and bonus plants of trout are featuring over-sized rainbows. Here are the big fish reported this week to Norcal.fishreports.com
Oddest catch of the week was the 55.25-inch sturgeon caught at San Pablo Reservoir. Juan Vargas of Richmond caught the rare beast using Power Bait at the Pines. Other notable catches from San Pablo Reservoir include: a 12.87 pounder caught by Tosh Okano of San Jose, who was bass fishing along the Main Recreation Area. A 10.67 pound trout caught by Dick Grube of Pleasant Hill. A 10.2 pounder caught from the Main Recreation Area with Power Bait by Betty Clark of Fairfield. Rob Allison of Alameda fooled a 7.10 pounder using Power Bait in Scow Canyon.
At Lake Amador, Doug Eichorn of Shingle Springs caught 10.4 pound rainbow trolling a Rapala in the back of Rock Creek. Denis Pajazetovic of Sacramento caught a 10.26 pound trout with small swim bait at an undisclosed location.
Chris King of Sacramento caught a 12.06 pound trout with a Rapala near the dam at Lake Camanche. Jerry Schmerer took an honorable second place last week with a 10.7 pounder caught trolling near Little Hat Island. Jason Canning of Livermore hooked an 8.48 pound rainbow at the day use Peninsula using a Senko.
Richard Rubero of Hayward reached the 10 pound mark with a trout caught on Power Bait at Lake Chabot’s Alder Point.
Collins Lake continues to produce large trout but perhaps more impressive were a pair of two pound bluegill caught by Danny Kimble from Elmer’s Cove. Biggest trout was a 7.8 pounder caught by David Whalen of Martinez who was bass fishing with a rubber worm.
Larry of Monte Sereno trolled Del Valle with a Panther Martin and was rewarded with a 12.8 pound trout. Chai Tran of Richmond visited the East Beach and caught an 11.2 pound trout with a nightcrawler. Gary Wong of Fremont used Power Bait at the East Beach to hook a 9.32 pounder.
New Melones is kicking out big cats. The largest reported last week was a 12.83 pounder caught by Brandon Yochan of Livermore, who was drop-shotting a worm in the Angels Creek Arm. Bill Coleman of Escalon landed an 11.43 pounder with a green rubber worm.
Shore anglers at Los Vaqueros continue to enjoy excellent results. Eliseido Renteria caught a 10.84 pound trout for the big fish of the week. It came from South Cove with Power Bait. Trenton Wiedner of Tracy caught an 8.88 pound trout from South Cove with a Rat-l-Trap. Manuel Reyes of Mountain House landed an 8.61 pound trout from South Cove with a Rapala.
Biggest trout last week at Lake Camanche was caught by a bass fisherman. Brian Emmons caught a 10.2 pound rainbow with a shad Rat-l-Trap.
