Nor Cal Fish Reports
The deck has been re-shuffled with this week’s snow/rainstorm. Water temps have dropped and lake, stream conditions are changing. That doesn’t mean there isn’t quality opportunities. Best news is two party boats from Sausalito, the New Rayann and Fish the Outer Limits, found salmon Wednesday near the Deep Reef in Half Moon Bay. Here are this week’s Best Bites:
GOLDEN GATE salmon: The New Rayann and Fish the Outer Limits were the only two boats to venture outside the Gate on Wednesday and they rewarded their anglers with better than a salmon per rod. The Outer Limits had 22 salmon to 14 pounds for 13 anglers and the New Rayann had 11 salmon to 18 pounds for 18 anglers. There’s a good window of opportunity to get out in the next three days before the wind picks up again.
SAN PABLO BAY striped bass: Point Pinole has been the striper hot spot. Shore anglers and party boats have converged and are getting good numbers of bass. Other bass hot spots include Point Richmond, Red Rock, Paradise, Tiburon and China Camp. Loch Lomond Bait (415) 456-0321
YUBA RIVER trout: Dry fly fishing is excellent here. March Browns, PMDs and caddis are present. Highway 20 to Sycamore is fishing very well but there is excellent fishing above the Highway 20 Bridge. There are skwala above the bridge. Fish First (530) 343-8300
LOS VAQUEROS trout: Large trout continue to caught by shore anglers. South Cove is the hot spot. Lots of limits are being caught. Pumpkin Power Bait has been popular. Boats haven’t been on the water because of wind. (925) 371-2628
COLLINS LAKE trout: The aggressive planting program here continues to pay dividends as trout bite continues to be very good. The dam and Elmer’s Cove have been the hot spots. Trolling is good near the bridge. 1-800-286-0576
