There was plenty of bragging going on given the number of trophy fish landed across the state over recent days. Check out the notables in this week’s Big Fish Review:

 


Bass Lake lived up to its name when a 9 pound largemouth was landed by an un-named angler from shore over the weekend.

 

Kevin Logan of Qunicy was trolling a spoon at Bucks Lake when he hooked an 8 pound brown trout.

Collins Lake has been a big fish jackpot this spring. Roy Van Tassel caught an 11.2 pound trout while trolling ... Rich Moore of Manteca trolled a secret lure to land a 10 pound trout … Don Phea caught an 8.8 pounder using green Power Bait … Chuck Scott was trolling for trout with a Wedding Ring when he landed an 11 pound catfish.

 

Big cats have been a normal occurrence at New Melones. John Wilson of Angels Camp caught a 16.7 pound cat while fishing with chicken liver at the end of Glory Hole Point … John Tennant of Twain Harte nailed a 12.8 pounder using mackerel at night … Michael Foster of Sonora caught an 11.6 pound catfish.


Silver Lake on the June Lake Loop has been a solid producer of big trout. Kaz Hosozawa landed a 6.6 pound rainbow using a Mice Tail … Brian Pierret of Sun Valley caught a 6.1 pound rainbow using a baby nightcrawler and Joe Cameron of Redondo Beach caught a 6 pounder from a boat with garlic Power Bait.


In the Bay Area, big trout and cats were netted. At Contra Loma Reservoir in Antioch, Anthony Belleci caught an 8.10 pound trout with nightcrawlers near Loma Island … Pat Extrum caught a 7.11 pound trout with a lure near the Swim Lagoon ... Taylor Yenny caught a 7 pound rainbow with a swim bait … Ron Hodgsen caught an 11.6 pound catfish from his float tube.

 


At Del Valle, the striper bite has been good near the dam. A 20 pounder was caught Randy Woods using anchovies near the dam ... a 17.5 pounder was caught by an un-named angler … Big trout include a 9.23 pound caught with a lure by Ted Land of San Jose … Jesse of Alamo caught a 9.45 pound rainbow with a white grub in Tarantula Cove.

 


Two big trout were caught last week at Los Vaqueros. Alfredo Ordaz of San Jose caught a 9 pound trout from South Cove using Power Bait ... Mike Ansagay of Santa Clara caught a 7.5 pound trout in Howden Cove.

 

A generally slow bite at Quarry Lakes in Fremont was interupted by a 12.3 pound trout caught by Ray McVey of Fremont, who was trolling a Rapala.

 

Catfish are the best bet at San Pablo. Proof comes from Jamie Banks of Hercules who caught 5 cats, 3 weighing 10 pound using chatter baits and Kastmasters in the preserve area … John Keil, Stacey Saetern, Peter Saechao and Tony Trong of San Jose caught 7 catfish 3 of them weighing over 15 pounds in Scow Canyon using sardines and night crawlers … Jake Swain of Dublin caught a 9 pound trout using a fire tiger Rapala close to the Berkeley Tower … Dave Hanis of San Pablo caught 3 trout, the largest weighing 9.5 pounds using Power Bait at the Main Rec … Azmach Ejersn of Emeryville caught 5 trout, the largest weighing 8.3 pounds, using Power Bait.


Biggest trout of the week at Shadow Cliffs was an 8.8 pounder landed by Han of San Leandro.


At Chabot, the big fish of the week was a 7.7 pound catfish caught by Don Lee.
