With the holiday weekend we had some very warm weather and very little wind but not so many fish were brought in. The temperature went up to 77 degrees and the clarity is decent with a five to six foot visibility at the docks. The bait balls of shad are being seen throughout the lake and they are very decent size shad. Although fishermen are still catching stripers on anchovies or chicken livers around Heron Bay, the Dam, or Narrows area, not many of the shakers are being reported and we haven't seen any whoppers in a while. As for the Catfish bite they've been biting out by the Heron Bay and a little bit at the West Beach area on Anchovies, Sardines, Chicken Livers and use scent attraction to really get them to bite. Largemouth bite is still about the same, the morning will be your better luck with top waters, jerk baits or soft plastics. Once the sun comes up they go down so in the afternoons it's best to try going into the deeper water. Smallmouth are biting more than the Largemouth about 20-30 feet down on Panther Martins or you can try different methods with trolling or using soft plastics but the key thing is deep water. There was no fish plant this week and good luck fishing!
