Bob Tyler recounts his fishing day in the recent Clear Lake Bass Tourney

Water temps ranged from fifty one to fifty four degrees throughout the day with a medium stain in the areas south that I fished. Today was my first tournament of the year and boy was it a doosey. I fished with the man that got me hooked on this sport seventeen years ago Bob Pietruska. It was a huge turn out as there were one hunderd thirty two teams in the big boat division. Red crankbaits and shad pattern jigs put a limit in our boat by eight thirty in the ten to fourteen foot depth range along breaks. We culled three fish during the day with the dropshot also becoming a player and ended up with a twenty one pound bag. This would be a super bag anywhere but Clear Lake right now. We finished a couple spots out of the money. The top seven places all had over thirty pound bags. All the big bags came from up north on the A-rig, large swimbaits and jigs in two to six feet of water according to the dock talk. A nine pounder was the big fish of the day.If catching a trophy bass from Clear Lake is on your bucket list now is the time to go.

Good Luck Bob Tyler
