Good Striper action continues. Our average daily catch has increased to 9 per day. However, our best day we bagged a total of 14. Shad, anchovies and haring remain the bait of choice. Problem being is decent bait is hard to come by and the quality of bait makes a big difference in the outcome of your day. Try using Pro Cure Brine and Bite. It will help firm up your bait. We have experimented with various lures and had limited results. The stripe bass are holding in the shallows 8 to 15 feet early morning, and by late morning 25 to 50 over deeper water. We've not seen any boils yet but the shad are moving closer to the surface 10 to 15 feet. Expect fewer stripes after water skiers and jet skis begin to arrive. Deer Island, Bear Creek in front of the dam are good areas to try. Water level is receding at a rate of a foot per week. Water surface temperature 80 degrees.
