Major changes are proposed for Pyramid Lake

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe is proposing a number of major changes for fishing activities at Pyramid Lake.

That large desert lake is located on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Indian Reservation.

Among the proposed changes are:

Hooks shall be single and barbless.

The possession and/or use of downriggers will be prohibited.

Trout fishing is prohibited from July 1 through and including Sept. 30 and also from March 16 through and including May 15.

Annual fishing permit: $99.

Annual boat permit: $99.

Comments on the proposed changes can be submitted through May 23.

The tribal council will take action on the proposals sometime after that comment date.
