Even though the water temps are up and the overall conditions appear to be nothing short of excellent, the fishing has been relatively slow over the past week or so. A few blue marlin are appearing in the lure patterns, but very few seem eager to bite and only a lucky boat here & there are getting bit.

Overall, the combined fish counts for the Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet and the Fish Cabo Fleet declined this week and reflected 14 stripers, (11 released) 1 sailfish, 1 wahoo, 5 dorado and 24 yellowfin tuna for the 31 fishing days reported.

Cabo Climate: Warming up, temps from 75 nights to 97 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Ranged from 81 at the Golden Gate Bank to 87 at the Gorda Banks in the Sea of Cortez. Generally, favorable conditions, good clarity and light surface winds.

Best Fishing Area: There didn't appear to be any real concentration of fish, with a scattering throughout the lower Pacific side of the peninsula, from the Golden Gate Bank and back toward Cabo and outside the Cabo Falso drop-off, 10-12 miles.

Best Lure/Bait: Most of the billfish taken on live bait.

Live Bait Supply: Caballitos were in good supply.
