Water Conditions:
Water is not quite crystal clear but close and still cold everywhere.

Fishing Conditions and Hatches:
The fish are spread out as usual with no weeds to make one area more attractive than another. The cold water also makes for the fish suspending as much as 5 ft off the bottom.
Beaver Cove just around the corner from the Marina is loaded with small fish providing the best action on the lake. If you are willing to wait a little longer to see some size, try Sandy Point and Leighton Springs in about 13 ft of water. Mostly small fish as big guys are "up the river"
For stripping I'd try long passes over the north end in 9 to 12 feet of water and stop when I got bit.

Recommended Flies:
As of yesterday the same patterns from last report are working best of anything in my box. Very clear water makes for smaller flies and tippet. Size 18 gray and black or olive, dubbed head Optimidges, with or without green flashback have been best except early go to purple zebra or red/black Tiger Midges Slow strip or troll olive Wooly Buggers or good ol Matukas right on the bottom and then slow strip up to your rod tip with a Stillwater Hare's ear size 14 trailer.

Check out the Crowley Cam!

Welcome fellow anglers to the Opening Day Crowley Lake Fishing report. This week was a great time to be on the water as we had great mid-day temperatures which made for some great angling over the weekend. We had around 9,000 visiting friends and families here with us at the Fish Camp and what a celebration it was. The fishing action got started at daybreak which was around 5:05 a.m. and by 6:00 a.m. there were boats on all aspects of the lake. The opening...... Read More
