I had the chance to run over to Sea Landing on Mothers Day and fish aboard the Stardust on a 3/4 day trip, I was greeted by Capt Luke Stimatis and his crew Sal Silva, Dane Johnston and Randy Graham. WE even managed to have a few kids show up and bring thier Moms fishing for the day. We got under way right on time and Capt Luke informed us that we would be heading for Santa Rosa Island, Dane followed up with a safety briefing and a very informative lesson for our "new" fisherpersons. We arrived at Santa Rosa after a 2 1/2 run and were wetting our lines shortly there after, the fishing was pretty tough throughout the morning. We managed to pick up a dozen or so fish with each drift mostly reds and chuckleheads and a lot of short lings. Capt Luke and the crew worked diligently to make sure we were on the fish and getting limits around. Our final stop of the day turned out to be the "honey hole" and were filling our bags and keeping the guys busy bagging up the fish. After several passes over the reef Capt Luke said it was time to head home. I have to admit the Mom's outfished the kids today. It was a great day on the water and what a great way for those Moms to spend a very memorable day with their kids. Congrats to Jodee Bybee for winning the jackpot with a monster whitefish, beating out the ling and reds. Cudo's to you for giving the entire jackpot to the crew, what a guy. I'd like to thank the crew for a great day on the water and to all of you who shared the rail with me. I can't forget to compliment Sal for some great food and the superb service of the crew. Our final fish count was 96 Vermillion and 120 assorted Rockfish, 50 Whitefish and 1 Lingcod. Give Sea Landing a call at 805-963-3564 and get on board, you will not be disappointed. Don't forget to go to fishing trips and sign up for the Full Day SFR Charter on 4 October. If you like any of these pictures please email me at [email protected].
