Mammoth Lakes, CA - Troutstock is back! Featuring the Million Dollar Derby, Troutstock is the premier fishing competition and festival of all things trout throughout Mono County. Troutstock Eastern Sierra is scheduled over Labor Day Weekend, starting on Thursday, August 30 and continuing until Monday, September 3, 2007. Troutstock Eastern Sierra 2007, includes 15 lakes, five registration points, five check-in points, a Kids Fishing Pond, trout cooking and casting demonstrations, kids fishing games, live entertainment, artists booths, a chance to win a million dollars, and over $10,000 in guaranteed cash prizes! All events, except for the fishing derby, are FREE and family friendly and event proceeds benefit the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation to support fish stocking programs in the State of California.

This event is an unprecedented regional promotion in the Eastern Sierra spanning 50 miles along Interstate 395 and over 5,000 acres of water. Troutstock Eastern Sierra 2007 is produced in partnership with Mono County Tourism Commission; Mono County Fisheries Commission; Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation; The Town of Mammoth Lakes Department of Tourism & Recreation; The Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce; The Mammoth Community Foundation; The June Lake Chamber of Commerce; The Lee Vining Chamber of Commerce; and The Town of Bridgeport.

The following community lakes are participating in Troutstock Eastern Sierra 2007.

Mammoth Lakes:
Convict Lake, Lake Mary, Lake Mamie, Lake George, Upper Twin and Lower Twin.

June Lake:
June Lake, Gull Lake, Grant Lake and Silver Lake.

Lee Vining:
Lundy Lake and Saddlebag Lake.

Bridgeport:
Little Virginia, Bridgeport Reservoir and Upper Twin.

A total of 500 tagged fish will be planted proportionately in each featured lake.?? Anyone catching a tagged trout will go home with a prize package, thanks to event sponsors. From the pool of anglers who catch a tagged fish, one name will be drawn at random for the chance to win $1 million dollars.?? This lucky participant will have the opportunity to open a series of envelopes until they select five of a kind. Prize packages are;??(A) One Million Dollars; (B) A pick-up truck; (C) A boat & motor, or (D) a luxury fishing vacation package to Mammoth Lakes.?? In addition, this person also takes home the prize package associated with his/her fish.

New for this year, $10,000 has been earmarked for automatic giveaway and will be split between five categories:?? (1) Person who caught the most tagged fish; (2) men who caught a tagged fish; (3) women who caught a tagged fish; (4) children 15 and under who caught a tagged fish; (5) all registered anglers.

Participants must be present to win all of the above mentioned prizes at the Awards Ceremony and BBQ (also new) on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007. The BBQ/Ceremony will commence at 5:00 p.m.. Live entertainment will be provided for all by "Citizen Joe. Included in everyone's registration this year is a BBQ ticket for Sunday's awards party.

Sandra Di Domizio, Town of Mammoth Lakes Special Events Manager stated that "Based on feedback from participants over the last two years, we wanted to create an event that was exciting for everyone. Cash prizes, a barbecue, and county involvement all serve to make this event better and more enjoyable to our visitors."

Other exciting activities on Monday, September 3 include the Hot Creek Hatchery Foundation's Boat & Motor raffle at 1:00 p.m. in The Village at Mammoth and Kidstock - a chance for registered anglers 15 and under to return and win $25,000 towards their education at 12:00 p.m.

The Full moon gave way and the fishing got reall good - We saw loads of Rainbows in the one and a half to two pound range with a dozen four pound and larger caught around the lake.
