The fall striper bite is in full swing with multiple reports of bigger than normal line sides hitting the scales. Anglers soaked cut sardines, jumbo live minnows, and lug worms for bites, but many of the bigger striper fell for threadfin shad netted from the aqueduct. Striper also took walking topwater baits, jerkbaits, and shad imitation swimbaits after check gates. There’s a lot of bait in the water and the bigger striper are feeding up before winter. Get’em while you can! Largemouth fell for Senkos and drop shot with several anglers reporting good topwater fishing when they found the shad schools. Catfish anglers hauled in plenty of whisker fish while soaking dip bait, cut anchovies, and chicken liver in slower moving water.
