The Truckee is still worth fishing but cooling water has slowed down the fishing a bit. You will need to fish slow and deep to have a shot at catching some fish. We've been having our best success fishing at the heads of deeper pools and dead drifting nymphs and streamers. Some overcast afternoons will have decent Blue Winged Olive mayfly hatches but this is sporadic at best. The anglers that catch the most fish on the Truckee at this time of the year are the patient ones that are willing to put in a lot of time and cover a lot of water.

Best Flies for the Truckee: Copper Johns 16-20, Two Tone Hunchback nymphs 18-20, Gold Ribbed Hares Ear 14-18, Birds Nest 14-16, Parachute Adams 18-20, Flu Shots 4, and McCunes Sculpin 6
