Eagle Lake is without any doubt the premier rainbow trout still water in California. The fish average 19 inches and weigh 2-3 pounds. You can expect 23 inch fish on a daily basis with some 25 inch models to add on your trophy photo wall. Eagle is the second largest natural body of water in the state. The Eagle Lake species of trout are indigenous to the lake and have been planted successfully in huge numbers all over California. Eagle has been managed by the Cal DFG as a trophy trout fishery and has special regulations to insure quality fishing during the season. I hold great regard to the conscientious local guides, fisherman, business folk, and agencies that look after this incredible resource. We are now booking for Spring 2011 in June & July. Please fill out a trip request form, or give us a call to reserve your dates. Doug R. & I will be returning to Eagle Lake once again this spring. We will be available for guiding the entire month of June & will also be guiding until July 10th for the first time. The extension into mid-July is a first for me and I have had very good reports from friends I have made at Eagle that the fishing is great well into late July. We are returning to Spalding & will moor the "fish magnets" at the Eagle Lake RV Park Marina as we have the last several seasons. Cost for two people is $550.00/day, up $25.00 from last season. Add $100.00 for a third angler. As usual we will provide all your fishing tackle. You will be responsible for lodging, lunches/meals & a license. Resources are listed below. It is still too early in the winter to predict how much Eagle will rise this year, however the lake has not received the tremendous early moisture that most of California has enjoyed thus far. The main tributary to Eagle is Pine Creek-& until it begins to run-off it will be hard to determine the outcome. Let's hope we get a substantial rise here this spring. This is my favorite place to fish a still water and it seems to get better with every passing year. Doug & I are really looking forward to guiding this fishery again this season. We have located several new "honey holes" if you have not been with us here in a couple of seasons and the rainbows are still averaging 19 inches and 2-3 pounds.
