Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve Deer Hunting

by Steve Carson
10-27-2011

Fortunate deer hunters who drew access to the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve have experienced some good success this season. Director Jeff Mott reported that California Deer Association and Butte County Fish and Game Commission member Andy Wood recently guided Andy Thorpe of Chico and his dad Matt on a G1 Zone youth hunt on the reserve. Young Andy bagged a nice forked horn buck.

In other reserve hunting news, the lottery drawings for the fall turkey hunt are complete, and the lucky winners will be receiving their passes soon. Information on the 2012 spring turkey hunt applications will be available on the California Deer Association website in February.
