Fishing conditions and Hatches: Fair to Good. Little Hilton has finanlly run out of gas as the water temps on the bottom have gotten up to 65 F. You might try out in about 20 ft of water with Slide-a-cator. Fish in McGee Bay, where there is lots of perfect 57 F water, are spread out from the channel all along the west side working the Perch Fry bigtime in the huge weed beds. There are still fish in the channel but fishing under the indicator is much tougher now that they are on the fry. The North End has shown signs of coming to life along the west channel about 100 ft off Green Banks. Midging will get some but the big fish are looking for fry here too. Time to get out the float tube and get your arm straightened out stripping a streamer.

Recommended Flies:
Gray/Black Dubbed Optimidge in size 18 under the indicator in the McGee channel under a Stimulator (forget the psychedelic green and orange indicators in 6ft or less). Real men use 6x in the shallow, clear channel and buy lots of flies at the Trout Fly. Try #16 red/black Tigers or small blood worms like size 16 Red Baron right on the bottom in Little Hilton. Nothing magic required for streamers. Perfection Perch, Punk Perch, Matukas and Hornbergs will all produce if you get them down to the bottom where the fish are and give them a "woundee" action. The big slaps on the surface are from Trout working a ball of fry up from the bottom and trying to eat one and stun 10 more with the tail whack. They gobble those and go straight back to the bottom for next pass. Stripping along just under the surface is produces marginally at best. Fish the bottom with full sink line or cast to boils with fry imitation on a dry line/long leader.
