The striped bass bite took off again this week, and anglers reported good numbers with some toad sized kickers in the mix. Striper went for small swimbaits, A-rigs, jerkbaits, and Flukes. Successful anglers tossed their offerings in the morning hours and found the best success with long casts all the way across the aqueduct. Bait anglers fooled striper with cut baits and jumbo live shiners soaked after check gates. Bass anglers reported plenty of fish while using drop shot, Senkos, and small walking baits in slower moving water, and catfish ate triple S dip bait, chicken liver, and cut anchovies. Many catfish anglers reported fishing late into the night to avoid the heat.
