EAST WALKER RIVER
The flows on the river are sitting at about 134 cfs today. The fishing down there has been pretty good for some anglers and not so good for others lately. We’ve had some really good dry/dropper reports come in and some good nymphing reports as well. Not too much on straight dries or streamers lately. There are starting to be a few fish caught on caddis nymphs so it sounds like the caddis are starting to become active. It sounds like there’s pretty good numbers of fish in the riffle sections down below the bridge so that’s some area to think about trying. Some patterns to try include: zebra midge, perdigon nymphs, psycho prince, tailwater tiny, Fox’s poopah, buckskin caddis, chubby chernobyl, madam X, San Juan worm, squirmy worm.

SCEIRINE RANCH
The ranch fished mostly like the rest of the river this past week with most anglers reporting just a few fish for a half day but nice fish in the upper teens and low 20’s being caught. Nymphs were the best option for flies, still not much on streamers lately.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
We had a few fish make a showing from the shore on the Reservoir but overall it seemed the fishing was better from boats. The trolling was fair with some perch, browns and rainbows being caught with crawlers, small Rapalas, speedy shiners and Thomas Bouyants. Most anglers were reporting 2 to 5 fish per day, not red hot action but some action none the less. The bait fishing from boats was pretty good over in the Rainbow Point area with some anglers who were successful reporting good fish on Power Bait, inflated crawlers, pinched crawlers and mice tails. We haven’t heard much from the fly anglers lately.

KIRMAN LAKE
We didn’t get any reports back from Kirman this week but I would expect it to still be producing some good fish, leech patterns, soft hackles, scud and the like should do the trick for you. It’s important to be in a tube as the water conditions are probably not too good for shore fishing.

TWIN LAKES
The Twins are also producing some mixed reports with some anglers hooking up with some really nice rainbows both from the shore as well as boats and other anglers not having very much action. We’ve seen some nice fish in the 2 to 5 pound range coming out of there this week. We didn’t see much for browns, mainly rainbows and it sounds like anglers who are targeting the Kokanee are doing well on them. Lures to try include Rapalas, speedy shiners and Kastmasters while baits to try include pinched crawlers, inflated crawlers and mice tails.

WEST WALKER RIVER
The West is still pretty high and off color, when the run-off is over the fishing up there should start getting much better.

VIRGINIA LAKES
The Virginias have kicked out some very nice fish lately, it sounds like the best method is stripping streamers and leech patterns from a tube or kayak, we talked to a couple anglers who have done very well this way and they relayed that they noticed other anglers fishing bait and lures that were not doing near as well as with the flies. The fly patterns we heard the most about were Twin Lakes Specials, soft hackles and mini leeches. It sounds like it’s very advantageous to get away from the shore as best you can, either with a tube or a kayak.
