The lake held near 50 percent of capacity with water temps in the low sixties. Fishing was good at Castaic last week with anglers catching plenty of bass and striper. Bass went for Green Pumpkin Senkos, Carolina rigged worms, and brown Ned rigs. They also fell for small Keitech swimbaits in shallow water. Striper anglers used sardines, anchovies, and lugworms to get light-line bites in the ski arm. The zebras bite in the 25-to-50-foot zone with lures scoring bites at the same depth. Trolled flies, umbrella rigs, and small swimbaits all got bites. Catfish went for cut baits, dip bait, and chicken liver in deeper coves around the lake, and trout anglers picked away at the remaining trout with dough baits and spinners.
