Santa Margarita Lake - CA (San Luis Obispo County)

14.3 Noel Herrera crushed it last Wednesday. Lots of folks getting their limit out here...bass coming to the shallows! Crappie are mostly all a pound or better.

The luck is turning around out here. Starting to hear about limits reached and pregnant bass in the shallows. Lot of talk about the color silver for hard plastic lures. Go for a smaller size as well. Really nice sized crappie being filleted but no one is willing to give up a location. A 17lb. Catfish was brought in the other day using mackerel. One or two redder have been caught indication the begging of a good season.

Things are slowly but surely picking up around here. A couple bass off of a silver and black Rapala. A few catfish on cut baits nothing any bigger than 10 lbs. No bluegill or redder to speak of. Crappie were found by a few different people and the ones they did catch were over 1lb. drop shot or wacky rig on the bottom with a roboworm or a power worm has work. Also white ice plastic swimsuit. ...... Read More

One person had some luck with a few good sized crappie but other than that anglers are out drowing worms with no bite. Wind has been calm so a great time to kayak. Camping has opened up with no restrictions. Marina is renting baits and kayaks if interested. ...... Read More
