Really Good Top Water Action in The AM

Santa Margarita Lake - CA (San Luis Obispo County)

by Santa Margarita Lake Staff

Really good top water action early morning hours landing 4-5 pound largemouths. As it warms up for the day, set up a wacky style with a watermelon or green pumpkin senko and drop shot down deep where they hide in the afternoon heat. Bluegill are still loving those live red worms and biting 3-5 feet below your float. A few crappie were caught this week in the wee hours of the morning when the sun just comes over the mountains. Catfish are switching to worms it seems, a bundle of large crawlers have been more successful than cut baits.
