The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a family fishing event at Trojan Pond on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is designed to help kids and their families learn fishing basics, and enjoy a day outside. ODFW will provide rods and tackle on a first come, first served basis. Staff and volunteer angling instructors will be there to offer assistance and answer questions. The pond will be stocked with rainbow trout before the event, so fishing should be good! Trojan Pond is a 15-acre pond located approximately 4.5 miles southeast of Rainier on the north side of Hwy. 30, at the old Trojan nuclear facility site. The pond is located on the right side of the road as soon as you turn onto the Trojan Access Road.
