Middle Owens River Fishing Report

Owens River - Middle - Bishop, CA (Inyo County)

Daren Arai had a fun day drifting with Doug Rodricks. This colorful bow could not resist a Spruce-A-Bu fished with the “dip & strip” technique. The bite has picked up with the flows dropping.

There was a temporary drop in the flows for opening weekend; looks like they are once again on the rise. Currently at 250cfs. Wading becomes more difficult from here on up. The bite will slow down until the level stabilizes. Still a decent BWO hatch coming off with a few stoneflies showing. Streamers like Spruce-A-Bu’s, Loebegrs, and Crystal Leeches used with a heavy sinking tip line are the right call under these conditions. Properly weighted nymph rigs with standard; or parallel Assassins, flashback pheasant tails, and parallel punk perch can get you grabs below an Under-Cator.
