The North Fork has been low and clear. Fishing and effort have really dropped off since the hatchery run is pretty much over. That said, there is still catch-and-release opportunity for wild fish. Float fishing jigs, beads, or bait, drift fishing, nymphing, and swinging flies or spinners are all good techniques.

Anglers are reminded that the North Fork Nehalem closes to steelhead fishing on April 1, to protect spawning wild steelhead and out migrating juveniles; so this Saturday is the last day for winter steelhead on this river.
