Steelhead fishing was slow on the Kilchis last weekend, mostly due to low and clear conditions. Snow melt from the coast range is supposed to raise the North coast rivers a little Wednesday through Friday this week. The Kilchis probably won’t come up very much, but hopefully the rise will add a little color and get some fish moving.

Dark colors, small presentations, light line, and stealthy tactics will probably produce the best results on this river. There are no hatchery releases in the Kilchis so this is mostly a catch-and-release fishery, although the odd hatchery stray does get caught. There should be fish throughout the system.
