Eagle Lake fishing season begins Saturday. The lake is only up a few inches from last fall. Only the low water ramp at Gallatin is open for use and at your own risk. Most all trailer wheels will be dropping off the end of the cement ramp where it is 22 inches and drops to 30-32 but it will work for most boats now. Keep your motors up to launch and from the dock, walk your boat down to the end before lowering motor and warming up. Most of the action will probably be 4-6 feet deep over all depths of water. When the fish start feeling the pressure it's not unusual for trollers to find them off the east side 18-24 feet but keep a line up top. Bait fishermen often find a late morning/early afternoon fish around 30 feet deep off Eagle's Nest on the east side. The rocky west side should produce limits too. But be careful and watch out for shallow ledges and rock piles. The fish are scattered but there are plenty. Shore fishing and fly fishing should be good. www.eaglelakefishing.net
