Pardee Reservoir Fish Report

Pardee Reservoir - Ione, CA

Pardee Lake Recreation Area will open for campers this Thursday February 13th for camping and fishing on Friday February 14th.

Due to the drought conditions and low water level the Marina has been moved from the normal location to Blue Heron Point. All Marina services and merchandise will continue to be available at the temporary location. At such time when water levels permit the Marina will be moved back to its usual location.

Water level is down approximately 20ft so anglers will have to hike a little further down the bank to access the water. Night crawlers, Power Eggs in yellow and white with garlic were the hot baits at the close of last season so they are probably a good bet to start off with. Try Rainbow Point and Stoney Point Landing, both areas give you better access to deeper water.

Usually this time of year Trollers use lead core or down riggers to get into the 10 to 20 ft. depths where fish congregate this time of year. Some use flashers or dodgers in front of Uncle Larry's copper pops and pinkies along with wedding rings, apex and sling blades. Most tip their lures with either scented white corn or a chunk of night crawler. Initially Trout are usually found at the face of the Dam, the River Mouth or in the vicinity of Columbia Gulch. Every year some large beautiful German Browns are caught near the Rock Wall in 5 to 10 ft. of water using a trout minnow broken back Rapala lure.

Pardee Lake Recreation and The California Department of Fish and Wildlife will both plant this week in conjunction with season opening.
