The 2013 fishing season has ended and I want to thank everyone who made it a great year. I'm grateful to all the folks who came into the store to take photos of their fish and report to us what was working. I had a great time writing up the weekly report and look forward to doing the same next year. For those die hard anglers, remember there are some waters in Mono/Inyo County open year round. (Hot Creek, East Walker, Sections of the Upper and Lower Owens, Pleasant Valley Reservoir). Make sure to check the regulations because they all have restrictions during the winter.

As for Convict Lake the month of November brought good fishing results. This last week a number of nice fish were caught. I believe there are still many larger fish from the last few stockings that will be hold overs in till next year. I expect to see some lunkers being pulled out of the lake during the 2014 opener. Only a handful of cabins are left for the 2014 Opening Day Weekend. If you are planning on coming up, you better give us a call to book your cabin before they are gone. (760) 934-3800 Ext. 1

Corresponding with the end of the fishing season was the end of our fall derby, Ambush at the Lake Fishing Derby. We had 91 anglers became eligible for the raffle by catching a fish that was 14" or bigger. Of those 91 anglers, 60 prizes will be randomly raffled off. The raffle comprises of $6,000 in Resort Prizes. The results of the raffle will be posted by the end of next week and the winners will receive notices by mail before the end of the year.

Notable Catches This Week: Robbie Bucher, pictured above from Azusa, CA with a lunker from Convict Lake. Robbie was using Pepperjack Cheese and was posted up on the South Shore when he landed a stout 5 pound rainbow.

Kevin Hanley from Sacramento, CA & John Young from Ventura, CA Photo #1 both landed quality fish. Kevin's fish was 2 pound 6 ounce and John's was 2 pound 14 ounce. Both were using a Rainbow Powerbait and they were fishing along the South Shore.

Steven Ramirez of Azusa, CA with an excellent catch. Steven landed a 4 pound 1 ounce rainbow using Pepperjack Cheese. He was fishing at the Inlet/South Shore.

Nick Snyder of Palmdale, CA hooked a 5 pound and 2 ounce rainbow. Nick was using a jig and was fishing at the South Shore.

Other locations to try are the Inlet, Outlet, Windy Point, North Shore, Jetty, West Shore, Creek, Handicap Pier, and Hangman's Tree.

Here is a list of other baits/lures that can be productive: Tasmanian Devil, Green or brown Marvel Fly Lures, Trout Teasers, Panther Martin, NeedleFish, Rooster Tails, and Bite-on Fury Shad on Powerbait.
