Anglers ready to "get back to it" after long summer break

NAPA, Ca. - With the elimination of the Future Pro Tour's traditional mid-summer event, FPT anglers haven't wet a line since the FPT "Delta Shootout" event in early June.

And while that break came as a welcome relief for the wives and "significant others" who support the legion of "bass addicts" that fish the tour, those who simply can't get enough of "casting and winding", are chomping at the bit to get the 2nd half of the season underway and participate in the fifth event of the FPT season dubbed "The Grapes of Wrath" which will be held September 28th on Lake Berryessa, one of the most beautiful lakes on the Sonoma coast located right in the heart of the world famous wine growing region of California's Napa Valley.

And it's fairly easy to wax poetic about fall in the Napa Valley as the area is a feast for the senses this time of year, thanks in part to the natural beauty of the gently sloping hillsides that will be turning from green to gold, and thanks in part to the lush aromas brought forth by the crushing of the grapes that accompany the grape harvest.

The beginning of fall is just as special to serious bass anglers, as many look for the signs of the turning leaves, and the cooling water - brought on by shorter days, for largemouth bass to begin to "feed up" on the huge schools of bait fish that should be everywhere, kicking off a feeding frenzy not unlike the springtime pre-spawn bite.

With only two events remaining that will enable teams to qualify for the prestigious year-end championship event known as the Future Pro Tour Classic, every team even near the Classic qualifying bubble is full aware that now is not the time to "fumble" and turn in a bad performance.

"Now is not the time to fall asleep at the wheel", noted Wayne Antoine, who along with team partner Wayne Antoine Jr., currently sits one point outside of the FPT Classic championships qualifying bubble. "This tour is only taking 75 teams - TOTAL, to Clear Lake in March to fish for a brand new $40,000 Ranger/Evinrude boat and we will be devastated if we have to watch it all go down from home, on TV, sitting on the couch".

Also at stake is the first-ever Coors Light-Silver Bullet Angler of the Year crown that brings with it a cash award of $500 along with the inaugural custom Coors Light Angler of the Year trophy. Currently the top three teams in the race are only a few points from each other so a rumble of WWE caliber is brewing and picking up steam with every passing event.

With great fall fishing on tap, at one of the most fertile lakes in the west, in one of the most beautiful places on earth, with only a limited amount of championship qualifying berths at stake....how does competitive fishing get more exciting!

And if you want to get in on all of the fun...it's not too late! Come on out and join in on the fun and excitement as you learn to build your bass fishing skills - which is the charter mission of the Future Pro Tour from its inception.

And if you missed out on this season, and/or just want to fish this event to "try us out", limited membership fees of just $5 per angler are always available.

For as we say...we can't guarantee that you will catch fish...but we will guarantee that you will have a whole lot of fun trying!

See you all there!
