Forecast temperatures in the 80's and 90's for this weekend and continuing throughout the week. Look for mild breezes and some high clouds mid-week.

Warm water temperatures in the Recreation areas have kept a lot of anglers away. Those determined few that have persisted have done well at the Woodpile. The water is somewhat cooler there and the fish that have left the Marina and others from the Lake have taken up residence there. Sliding sinker cast about 30' out seem to work well lately. The anglers working the banks are using Power Bait (eggs or worms) with garlic and glitter. Pistol Pete's and Mouse (mice) Tails, in addition pink Power Worms and night crawlers on a water bobber have been successful lately.

Kokanee fishing is still good to excellent. Lots of reports of quick limits from the Gate, and the Marina staff this week. Trollers are not willing to share the exact location but rumor has it that the Deer Island, Columbia Gulch and Indian Head Rock areas have been hot. The Kokanee continue to hang in the cooler, deeper water in these locations in the 90 to 100 foot strata. Trollers continue to use Uncle Larry's copper pops and pinkies along with wedding rings, apex and sling blades behind silver/gold or watermelon dodgers. Check at the Marina for all your fishing supplies, snacks and updated fishing information and hot spots.

Once again word is out, some boaters have been tying off in the coves near the River mouth (Bernice's and Ticket Coves in particular) and bait fishing for Rainbows off the back of the boats and doing quite well.

Catfish have been plentiful, look for catfish in the River arm and the southern coves from Mel's cove to Rattlesnake. Chicken livers, Power Bait and night crawlers are the baits of choice.

Water level has stabilized and is 2 to 4 feet from the spillway and is holding steady. Water temperature is 67 degrees at 20 feet and 73 degrees at surface as measured in the Marina. Water clarity is good to 17' plus in the Marina.

Pardee Lake Recreation has planted a total of 25,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout as of this report. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has also planted 2,000 lbs. of Trout to date for a grand total of 27,000 lbs.

Temperatures at the century mark for the weekend cooling a bit during the week. Look for mild breezes and some scattered high clouds. Warmer temperatures have kept a lot of anglers away. Those that have braved the heat and have got fish have done so early before the heat sets in. The forecast calls for the temperatures to drop a little next week and hopefully that will encourage more fish to return to the Recreation Area. Most anglers...... Read More
