Fellow Sportsmen,

Well we have come to the end of 2012. I would like to thank all my fishermen for a very busy year and helping me keep my kids in college! I would like to also wish everyone a great 2013. As far as the latest fishing report here we go. Over the Christmas holidays we had bad weather, which shut down many trips. After the weather changed I got in 4 trips. The last 2 days the bite slowed and all we could land was shaker sturgeon and a keeper bass, 7 total shaker sturgeon. 3 days ago when it was very very cold I had some hard-core fisherman that stuck it out in the cold. We had a great trip with 5 Sturgeon landed, there were 2 Shaker sturgeon one 58 in and one 59 in and 75 in that we chased for over a mile. I believe Nick hooked a shaker sturgeon, which was his very 1st sturgeon and later hooked the oversize sturgeon, which we chased and then later hooked and landed a 59 inch sturgeon which he tagged. When you look at the photos we were unable to get a good photo of the 75 inch fish as we wanted to comply with the law and protect the fish from harm. We released it in the water and all we could get a photo of was the nose poking out of the water as you can see. The day before that we landed 9 Sturgeon lost a very nice one that was either a big keeper or oversized. That fish jumped almost all the way out of the water twice near the boat, rolled on the line and freed himself by fraying the line. About 5 minutes later we had another opportunity and that 63 inch fish lost the battle and was landed. All the fish these last few trips have been near the Mothball fleet and buoy 4 in 21 to 22 feet water and all are good action was during the max current of the big outgoing tide. The best baits have been a plain eel, eel and grass combo or J P S, just plain shrimp. Enjoy the photos and have a Happy New Year.
