Warming trend for the weekend and beyond high 80's low 90's today and throughout next week. The long range forecast also calls for clear skies gentle breezes. The Lake level remains at 4 to 6 feet below spill. Current water temperatures are 60 degrees at 20 feet and 68 at surface; look for these temps may change as temperatures rise. Water clarity is good to 16 feet. Banks are best for trout early in the morning before the fish head out of the Recreation Area looking for cooler deeper water. Most bank anglers were concentrated around Rainbow Point again today. Try using white power worms, maggots and power bait behind the ebay boathouse, the "mud hole lagoon", Porcupine point, the Launch ramp and Tom Sawyer Island if Rainbow Point is too congested. Power worms and green power bait are also effective, with wooly boogers and silver/blue Kastmasters good early morning.

Trolling has fallen off at the dam and the mouth so most have moved further upstream to Twin Coves, Deer Island and beyond. Fish should be in the 30 to 50 foot mark since water temps have remained the same. The best bet for bait remains small spoons or needlefish type lures in pink or florescent orange/red tipped with a night crawler, grub or power worm behind small flashers, dodgers or sidekicks in silver/green these have all worked well in the recent past.

Cat fishing still good in southern coves and they continue to show up all around the Recreation Area. Chicken liver, anchovies and night crawlers are their still the favorite. Good reports from upriver-no monsters lately but some decent large mouths were caught near the log jam. White spinner baits with white willow shaped blades and top waters have been doing well lately. California Department of Fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs of fish in addition Pardee Lake Inc has planted 45,000 lbs (combined total 48,00lbs) of trout to date.
