Striper action has stepped up a notch from previous weeks. As we move into the middle of August we're not experiencing as much water skier traffic, which has improved the striper bite. We have been able to catch our fish early and get off the water by noon. We're now averaging 11 to 14 fish per day, 5 to 6 lbs, but we have caught some smaller fish that wasn't kept. The line sides are holding in the main lake 20 to 30 feet deep. Rolling shad , anchovies, herring and even worms has worked well. Water level still continues to fall and water temperature is 79 degrees.

Picture 1 John Kidd and Allen Cover of Modesto are anxious to take these fish home for a nice fish fry.

Picture 2 Tengmoua and Yee Thau decided to settle for these 9 fish caught by 10:30 because they had a long journey back to Fresno.

Picture 3 Jim Bonzi, Charlie Thuler and William Passalaqua of Modesto had a fun day out on the water catching a nice limit.
