Jess Ranch Lakes Fishing Report

Jess Ranch Lakes - Apple Valley, CA (San Bernardino County)

9-28-2008

Hi Chad,

I hope all is well with you. The trout have started to move around the lake but this week it got hot again so the bite hasn't really kicked into high gear yet.

The lakes are loaded with trout from our weekly stocks as well as lots of fry, scuds and larvae. So Anglers are mostly using jigs, lures and senkos and working them. I can't wait for fall to really hit.

Thanks for everything and have a great week.

Best Regards,

Theresa

Despite the warm up this week, the cooler nights continue to improve the trout bite with anglers using lures, jigs, senkos and night crawlers to catch limits. Best bite isbefore 11am. Most trout caught were near or over 2 lbs. Hot spots were the eastern shore and northern shore of lake 2 and the grassy point of lake 3. Bass bite has also improved with anglers reporting excellent action at the western shore of lake 3 and the southeastern shore of lake 2 on senkos with bass up to 3 lbs. Bluegill were hitting lures and meal worms near the pump house and the western shore of lake 2. Most bluegill caught are near or over 1 pound.

The Lakes' Hatchery stocks trout every Friday year round.

Hours: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays--7am to 4pm. For more information
