Launching is still the top concern for Lake Oroville anglers, noted Fil Torres at Oroville Outdoors. "I would recommend four-wheel drive and two people at both the Bidwell and spillway launch ramps", said Torres. "There is a military-style traction grate and a courtesy dock in place at Bidwell, but not at the spillway. Be sure to watch for potholes when backing up."

On the fishing front, Torres continued, "Lots of spotted bass from slot-size up to two pounds are biting on white buzzbaits near shore early and late. Crawdad-pattern tubes are also working at 20 to 30 feet off areas of large rock.

"Coho salmon anglers are trolling at 40 to 50 feet off Kelly Ridge Point and the green bridge. Best lure color for cohos is fluorescent orange and fluorescent red."

Torres tipped, "The Thermalito Afterbay has been good for largemouth bass to four pounds. Use Senkos near isolated tule clumps, or crankbaits off areas of rip-rap."
