The annual autumn striped bass run is getting underway on the Sacramento River, reported Richard Peeples at the Tackle Box in Chico. "Lots of stripers are being caught in the Sacramento from Princeton all the way up to Woodson Bridge", said Peeples. "Fish one hour before sunrise and one hour after sundown with surface lures and hair-raisers for fish averaging 10 pounds, with a few up to 15 pounds. Plenty of small ones are also being caught on cut baits."

One of the few opportunities for salmon anglers in California right now is the Klamath River, where good to excellent results have been found. Local Chico-area guides Frank Duarte, Kevin Brock and Frank Townley have made the trek up to the Klamath, and are finding good numbers of fish.
