The week ended with heavy winds and the promise of snow Sunday night at the higher elevations, which is yet to be seen.

The week was very warm with temps hitting in the low to mid 80's at 9727 foot elevation and 85 to 88 at Conway summit.

Salmon Peach power bait is still holding the number one spot over night crawlers by 2 lengths, and lures on the far turn as a quick 3rd. Alpers put in his famous fish last week and only 2 have been caught as far as we know, so there's plenty to go round. I helped Tim with the load and got a good look at these fish and some were over 6 lbs from what I could see. DFG also stocked about one hour after Alpers and by evening when the lake was flat, fish were sipping and it looked as if it was raining from the ringing going on. I walked to the lake only to see a huge spinner fall of flying ants and very small whitish midges probably size 24. It was incredible. I only wished I had wings to float over the water and look down, I probably would have a heart attack watching them slam these bugs.

The biggies of the week were caught by Jon Oshiro of Tucson AZ (2lb 4oz) on a Panther Martin, and Zach Squires of Reno brought in a nice 3lb 10oz on a Rooster Tail, and Stan Tanaka of Ventura caught a 6lb 4oz on a Bird's Next.

It's been a very quiet weekend so far, not the normal Labor Day we've seen in the past, but there are quite a few fishermen with limits that braved the winds today and hopefully it will die down. I don't think the weather will do much, maybe just a dusting atop the peaks. Bend those rods?Ķ.

It's into the top of the 7th and the score is tied for the season. Looks like another winner for the Eastern Sierra as far as weather goes, with some high clouding in the morning, but clears by early afternoon making it a great week for those waiting to head back to reality for the winter. Had a 2 day cooling after some good winds early this week, but it has returned to sleeveless tops and shorts, for...... Read More
