The river continues to be in great shape. Flows have remained pretty steady throughout the summer. This is the time of year that crayfish molt and become soft. The trout really key on them in August. Reno Fly Shop guide Tim Haddon is well known for his Dead Drift Crayfish pattern and its success this time of year. The best way to fish the crayfish pattern on the river is with a floating line and a big indicator. Use some splitshot to get it to the bottom and you can even tie on a dropper. Try a Burk's Bottom Roller. Hoppers are also worth a try as they seem to be plentiful this year. There have been numerous reports of big trout taking hoppers on the surface. Mornings until early afternoon has been the best time to fish.

Flows: Town of Truckee 426 CFS, Boca Bridge 575 CFS, Farad 608 CFS, Reno 401 CFS.
