New Melones Reservoir - Angels Camp, CA

TROUT

Trolling for trout has been producing limits of rainbow fishing Angels Creek down 20 ft. using Blue/Chrome Kastmaster, and Watermelon colored Dodger scented with Bloody Tuna. Trolling by the spillway, limits were being brought in using speedy shiner in nickle/blue tipped with crawler.

Kokanee

The Kokanee are being caught by the spillway, hoochies and dodgers with garlic scent is working producing limits. Try trolling down 25-35 ft. Pro Troll has the Kokanee Killer lure with a electronic EChip, producing voltage similar to baitfish.This in turn produces strikes. Try the Red Pearl, or the Watermelon colors behind a flasher.

BASS

The bite on bass has been good, boaters bringing in 20+ in an afternoon of fishing the coves. Using senko's wacky rigged in a blue pearl. Look for schools of shad boiling on the surface of the lake. Reaction fishing is starting to bring in some bass, fishing parallel to the shoreline. Also try the Arkie jig in a Salty Crawlin Grub Jig.
