The lake level is at 80% and climbing slowly. Access is very limited right now around the lake because of snow removal issues and the amount of snow that we’ve received! Boat launch being open is from day to day now. The workers that are repairing docks will sometimes close ramp off and sometimes it will be open from an ambitious fisherman. Those who possess a boat have had success with Mackinaw. For the bank fisherman, there was a plant of sub-catchable size Pilot Peak Cutthroats put into the lake last week. Throw everything you have at the trout now, ie: powerbait, nightcrawlers, and salmon eggs and combinations of these baits, spoons and spinners of different varieties. By casting closer and then working your way out a little further one can detect what depth the trout are cruising and having patience is key to success now. Get a guide for this lake and learn the ropes! Guides listed on bottom of this page and all are highly recommended! This lake was planted the week of 4/24 with Cutthroat trout.
