Opening Update

Welcome fisherfolks.....
Bridgeport Reservoir survived the opening weekend...And what a weekend it was......Everyone was safe..... Most everyone caught fish and the weather was great!!! The water level is a bit low but that should fix itself soon with warm temps on the horizon... Somewhere.....Lots of Brown trout and Rainbows.....Fish are scattered throughtout the lake..Water temps are still cold,(47 to 53 degrees on the surface) so fish are seeking wherever it is warm....Maybe towards the surface...Most folks are trolling either with flasher and worms, lead-core line with lures or just top lining with lures.....Rapala's, Silver spoon types, Thomas Bouyants and of course TROLLING FLIES!!!!!!.....Still and Bait fishing is a bit slow yet but that should improve with the warmer temps arriving...

Was good to see all you Fly Fisher folks on tubes and pontoons .....Action was fair to good for still water nymphing( midges) and those with sink lines and streamers.....The midging should go off this year with the abundance of snowmelt higfher up....

The Brown Trout that Paradise Shores planted last fall are looking very healthy...A huge thanks to Eric and Michelle!!!!!!.....When you are in the area please stop by to visit them and empty your wallet for their Cause!!!!!

On that note maybe we should all CONSIDER RELEASING those beautiful Brown Trout SO they WILL GROW EVEN BIGGER!!!!!!

I'll update report soon and hope to see everyone up here at the Res.....Call for further info or info - 760-932--7001.........We plan to have the FLOAT TUBE SHUTTLE going as soon as there is enough water in Buckeye Bay.....Right now, Tubing is good enough right outside the marina or down by the Dam.....(LATE EVENING>>>hint, hint) Good fishing to all......Jeffrey......

The fishery should be very healthy this year thanks in part to mother nature for providing snow in the Sierras, Eric and Michelle from Paradise Shores for raising and planting brown trout and the DFG for planting a few thousand pounds last fall. Keep in touch about lake and weather conditions as the opener nears. The East Walker, Hot Creek and the Upper Owens are open...... Read More
