So long summer. We had a good water year once again, and fishing was just like every other good summer before. If you made your way out to fish with me, thanks.

Flows have been steadily dropping since the first week of Sept, and now we are at about 120 cfs in the Hirsch, and 140 near stateline, on the Truckee River. Not a lot of meat on the bone in most of the river through Nevada. So it could be worse, compared to last few years anyways. Fishing has been pretty good because people can actually wade around in the river now. Usually it takes it’s toll on people. This time of year the water can get pretty low regardless if we are in a drought or not. Good news, the fish are in good health and things should be fine until we get more water again. Hard to say what this winter will bring.

Right now cold in the mornings and pretty nice during the day.

I’ve been fishing a lot of dry dropper rigs, a little bit of tight lining, and recently been using the new zealand strike indicator. Good way to suspend your nymphs and keep away form the fish in the lower water. It’s much like a dry dropper rig. Streamer fishing can be pretty good this time of year too.

Pyramid Lake opens in a little over a week. Lots of hype over the lake this year. It is pretty cool place if you’ve never experienced it.
