The Steely trout bite is red hot. My clients Don and Jim caught and released 35 fish today all while backtrolling a hotshot worm combo, in the upper stretches of the Klamath River. Most of the fish were 1/2 to 11/2 pounds, but we did land a couple 2 plus pound Steelies. We had one 5 pounder that we nearly landed but it spit the hook as we dipped the net in the water. A picture would have been nice, but it was close enough to see it was a wild fish, that would have had to have been released anyway. We also hooked a couple of old Salmon, one we landed and just pulled the hook out, the other was close to 20 pounds and full of life, he put up quite a battle on 6 pound line. The Steelies are hanging right behind the in-river spawners, so anywhere you find Salmon, the Steelies are feeding heavy right below them.
