Stripers thrashing shad at Del Valle

Del Valle Lake - Livermore, CA (Alameda County)

Striped Bass are going crazy on shad, blowing up the surface in aggressive boils. The boils have been scattered though out the day, from early morning to late afternoon into the evenings. Hot weather in the low 100's this week has been burning fishermen and heating up the water to high 70's. The catfish are also still biting in this heat, in fact the warmer the water the more active the cats will be. Cut baits are working well for both cats and stripers. Anchovies, mackerel, and sardines are all catching fish at the moment. A gentlemen actually caught an albino Catfish this week over 10 pounds, the albinos are a rare and beautiful sight. Smallmouth bass are becoming more active. (925) 449-5201
