Water Conditions: Poor
Flows at 10 CFS as of 8/27
Appears the flows from Mammoth Creek have dropped below 1cfs. Hot creek has virtually NO water coming in from Mammoth Creek now. It's strictly spring flows now.
(Note flows include water from the springs, not just the gauging station at the highway so this is what is really flowing through the canyon)

Fishing conditions and Hatches: Good

The fishing on the creek has slowed some. It is also fairly technical. You have to run very short drifts in order to hook fish instead of weeds. This is the lowest the water has been in a very long time. With that being said don't be afraid to take off that indicator or to throw that hopper at that hole in the weeds on the far bank. Goes without saying that the caddis are plentiful still.

Definitely hopper city lately. You can hear them snapping all around you. You'll want to try either a big chernobyl or some kind of a grasshopper pattern. Some big slab might come out from the weeds and grab it!

Recommended Flies:

DRIES: Grasshopper, Fat Albert, Chernobyl Ant, Chernobyl Grizzly,Parachute Caddis #18-20, Parachute Caddis Emerger #18-20, Parachute Adams 20, Brook's Hot Creek Caddis #18-20.

STREAMERS: Water is too low and too weedy to bother.
