The crappie bit was as hot as the air temps last week, and those willing to brave the heat were rewarded with some outstanding fishing for slabs to 2.5lbs. Family and friends of Clint Thomas of Santa Margarita rented a pontoon and did a number on the panfish. Thomas checked in 43lbs. of quality crappie at the marina, and said that pearl white tube jigs was the key to their success. The bass bite has been sporadic, with the fish biting in the a.m one day, and the p.m the next. Most of the largies have been in 2lbs to 3lbs class, with an occasional 4 or 5. Jigs, cranks , and spinnerbaits all took fish. Catfish still in the White Oak area and have coming in on cut mackerel.
